You’re walking in a forest when you notice something small and round stuck to your leg. A tick! Like mosquitoes, lice, and lots
of other creepy-crawlies, ticks like to bite you and suck your blood. What’s especially disgusting is the way they attach themselves to your skin and hang on while their bodies slowly fill with blood.
hoW a tiCK finDs you Ticks don’t live on their hosts all the time – they live in long grass or on trees, and brush onto your body as you go past. They also feed on other animals, such as dogs and deer. Some ticks can detect the warmth of your body or the gases in your breath, then creep and crawl onto you. filling station
Next, the tick finds some bare skin and burrows its sharp mouthparts, and most of its head, into your flesh. It can hang on for minutes, hours, or even days as it drinks its fill.
