Dung betle

A dung beetle spends its life seeking out one thing – smelly, sticky dung (animal poo). To a dung beetle, dung is a source of food and a place to lay its eggs so that its babies can feed on bits of chewed, pooed-out plants in the dung as they grow. “I SMELL DUNG !” Dung beetles find their dung, usually from plant-eating animals, such as cows, using their sense of smell. Or they follow animals around and sit patiently, stand by for them to make a poo. DUNG BALLS Some dung beetles live in piles of dung, but most shape it into neat balls, roll it away, and bury it in the ground to retain it safe. Then they lay eggs inside the dung ball and guard the babies as they grow inside it.
