
François-Marie Voltaire 21 November 1694 – 30 may 1778), illustrious by his (nom de plume) author, was a French Enlightenment author, student and thinker illustrious for his wit, his attacks on the established Christian church, and his support of freedom of faith, freedom of expression, and separation of church and state. author was a flexible author, manufacturing works in nearly each literary kind, together with plays, poems, novels, essays, and historical and scientific works. He wrote over 20,000 letters and over 2,000 books and pamphlets. He was an outspoken advocate, despite the danger this placed him in below the strict censorship laws of the time. As a satirical polemicist, he ofttimes created use of his works to criticize intolerance, spiritual dogma, and therefore the French establishments of his day.
